Harlan "Bud" Dean Hovind

Harlan Dean “Bud” Hovind, passed away on December 11, 2021 from complications of surgery.

Born April 23, 1935 in Anoka, MN, Bud attended Hamline University and was a Korean War veteran in the Air Force. He lived for the past 52 years in the Kansas City area with his wife Mary Lou prior to her death. He was dedicated to his work of 46 years for the National Child Safety Council. Bud was an avid golfer and volunteered as golf marshal at the Tomahawk Hills Golf Course as well as Farmer Bud to the school children who visited Old Shawnee Town.

Bud was pre-deceased by his wife Mary Lou Hovind who passed away June 29, 2016.

Bud leaves behind 8 children; Nancy Smith, Dan Schwent, Brad Schwent, Gary Hovind, Debbie Nunn, Manette Rogers, Jim Hovind and Dean Hovind; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be from 3:00-5:00 pm, Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Tomahawk Hills Golf Course in the Elmridge room, 17501 Midland Dr, Shawnee, KS 66217. Please RSVP to the celebration if you plan on attending.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or plant a memorial tree in memory.
