Marshall Ray Dietz, Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 20, 2021, with family by his side. He was born in Kansas City, KS on July 15, 1957. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Dietz.
Marshall was an avid Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and KU Jayhawks basketball fan. As a young athlete himself, Marshall was widely recognized as one of the best baseball catchers & homerun sluggers of his time. He enjoyed watching his daughters’ and granddaughter’s sporting events, and loved watching classic movies, especially those starring John Wayne. Marshall was quick witted and always had a smile on his face. He was a good man who never met a stranger.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sarah Dietz, his daughters Bridget Dietz and Lucy Dietz (Cory Morrison), his granddaughter Kylie Dietz, his dad & mom, Vernon & Louise Dietz, his siblings, Greg Holmes (Shelly), Carol Porras, Caren Nagy, Victor Dietz, Barbara Ray, and Teresa Grinstead (Bob), his Uncle John and Aunt Ruth Bakarich, and many cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews, & friends who loved him.
A visitation for Marshall will be held Thursday, December 23, 2021, from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 9:00 AM at Maple Hill Cemetery, 2301 S. 34th St., Kansas City, KS.
Marshall enjoyed helping his sister with rescue outreach delivering dog houses & pet food in the community. In honor of his love for his dogs and grand dogs, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Unleashed Pet Rescue, 5918 Broadmoor St., Mission, KS 66202.
