William "Bill" Pearson

November 5, 1951 — July 29, 2021

William "Bill" Joseph Pearson, 69 passed away on July 29, 2021 at Catholic Care Center, Bel Aire, KS. He was born in Pittsburg Kansas, November 5, 1951 to William Nelson and Mathilde(Jorg) Pearson. He graduated from St. Joseph High School, Shawnee, KS in 1969. A few years after graduating he attended a Trade school in Pittsburg, Ks. and returned to the KC Metro area to start his career. His career took him to many places, Topeka, KS, Fargo N.D., and Newport News, VA before settling in St. Joseph, MO where he lived for 15 plus years while raising his three boys. He met his wife Kim (Wells) Pearson while living in St. Joseph, MO. They shared a love of music and dancing and were married on April 30, 1999. Later in life he decided to continue his education and earned his Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing Engineering at Pittsburg State University. After graduation he and Kim settled in Bel Aire, KS where he lived and worked. He retired from Case New Holland, Wichita, KS in 2018.

Bill was always curious and adventuresome, building a raft and floating down Turkey Creek, or going on a bicycle adventure for hours, as a child. He was extremely smart and was a math whiz. This gave him an edge in any card game and he was hard to beat. He was an avid reader and would stay up all night to finish a novel. He loved to fish and camp and made many trips to Canada and North Dakota to fish for Walleye and Northern Pike. He enjoyed cooking and eating his favorite meals with friend and family. He was always ready with a joke and could talk for hours with anyone who would listen. He was very decisive and direct and there was no changing his mind. He would become very passionate when debating any topic and would not concede. Kim and Bill’s love story began out at a club. Bill offered to buy her a drink and they danced the night away, the spark was lit. Kim and Bill complemented each other, City man meets country woman, it was a good balance. They enjoyed living in the small community of Bel Aire, KS and enjoyed spending time with each other and their neighbors George, Clarisse and Collin.
