A. June Berntsen

June Berntsen, aged 91, died peacefully on December 29, 2017 at her home in The Gardens of Ocotillo, in Chandler, AZ.

June was born August 22, 1926 in Kingfisher, OK, the daughter of Sam and Leila Isbill.  She was the oldest of five children, with brothers Ted and Tom, now deceased, and sisters Bettie and Gerrie, still living.

In her youth, June enjoyed roller skating, horseback riding and movie going.  She graduated from Okeene High School, in Okeene, OK and played for their girls' basketball team.

April 9, 1947, June married Harold Berntsen, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Okeene, OK.  The two lived in Okeene, OK, Wichita, KS, Cheyenne, WY, and Overland Park, KS.  In 1995 they purchased land in Kansas City, KS and built an earth contact home on their 40 acres.

June was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overland Park, KS for over 40 years and then a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Kansas City, KS.

She is survived by her husband. Both her sisters. Two daughters Joyce Flowers of Chandler, AZ and Donna Maloan of Gardner, KS. Two grandchildren, Travis Flowers of Olathe, KS and Ashley Lanyi of Olathe, KS. Four great grandchildren. And several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2-4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at the Amos Family Funeral Home, Shawnee, KS, where a rosary recitation will be at 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8 at St. Patrick Catholic Church; entombment in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
