Albert Patrick Teepen, 76, of Overland Park, passed away Friday, February 9th at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Albert was born August 16, 1941 to the late Eugene and Eulalia Teepen in Kansas City, MO. Al was a lifelong Kansas City resident and graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic School in 1954. He was a Boy Scout while in school and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, Al earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin build up. After being discharged from military service, he went to work as a financial analyst for Mobil Oil. He later went on to own his own ReMax real estate brokerage, and enjoyed building custom homes.
On December 29, 1984 Al married Barbara Herren. Al loved to travel with Barbara. He was proud of his yard and enjoyed spend hours tending to his property and helping neighbors. Al also looked forward to spending time with childhood friends and catching up over lunch. Al will be sorely missed for his good and kind spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Barbara Teepen; his children, Pattie Pogue and partner, Bob Burkeen; Robert Herren and wife Laurie; Joyce Maggard and husband Frank; James Teepen; a sister, Mary Jo Teepen; five grandchildren Timothy Pogue and wife Tanya; Mitchell Herren; Riley Herren; Robert Maggard; Jozy Maggard; and a great granddaughter, Annabella.
Memorial Contributions
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Boy Scouts of America, 1325 West Walnut Hill Lane, Irving, Texas 75015-2079 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 15 at Queen of the Holy Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Al will be laid to rest at Antioch Pioneer Cemetery.
