Alberta E. Elrod, 89, of Prairie Village, KS passed away at Shawnee Mission Medical Center on May 12, 2014. Alberta was a housewife with prior part-time work at the IRS for 25 years in addition to 6 years at Hercules Powder Co. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Prairie Village, KS. She was born in Eudora, KS, and lived in DeSoto, Shawnee, and Prairie Village, KS throughout her life. She is survived by son Ted Elrod, Jr., Lone Jack, MO., and daughter Cheryl Gish of Overland Park, KS. She also leaves four grandchildren: Walter McDaniel, Antioch, TN., David Elrod and Darin Elrod, Overland Park, KS and Heather Hargrove of Lenexa, KS and four great-grandchildren: Riley and Connor Hargrove of Lenexa, KS and Anna and Augie Elrod of Overland Park, KS. In addition, Alberta leaves a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted Elrod, Sr., parents, Henry and Ottie Belle Mathia, brothers, Edward, Delbert, Homer, and Henry, Jr., sisters Charlotte Bowling and Helen Mullen.

Visitation & Funeral Service

A visitation will be held at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory Thursday May 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held Friday May 16 at 1:30 pm also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in DeSoto Cemetery.
