Alfred Schapker

Alfred A. Schapker, 98, of Merriam, Kansas, passed away August 28, 2013, at Santa Marta Senior Living Center in Olathe, Kansas.

Alfred was born August 7, 1915, in Poseyville, Indiana, to John and Anna Schapker. Alfred was a proud Navy Veteran having served aboard the USS Nevada.

He is survived by his sons: Fred, Donald (Gretchen), Dennis (Merrill), Leonard, and Richard (Phyllis); eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Dassell; and brothers: John, Marcellus, Oliver, Jim, and Jerry Schapker. Alfred was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Emma; and brothers: Arthur, Paul, Sylvester, and Irwin Schapker.

Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., Wednesday September 4, 2013, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5500 Woodson, Mission, Kansas 66202 with a funeral service immediately following at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
