Alfred H. Talbot

Alfred H. Talbot of Overland Park, KS passed away August 7, 2015. Alfred was born to Wallace and Vena Talbot on December 9th, 1924 in rural Marshall County Kansas near the town of Marysville. He attended rural grade school and graduated from high school at Marysville. He served in the Army Air Force in Italy during World War II and was recalled to serve in the US Air Force in the Korean War. He graduated from Kansas State College and later secured a Graduate Degree from Kansas University. He was married to Anita Smith and he and his wife raised two children while they lived in Arkansas and Kansas. A divorce after the children had left home was followed later by marriage to Dorothy Langley after his retirement. He enjoyed a career with the American Red Cross, retiring in 1986 as Emergency Service Director for the Greater Kansas City Chapter. In 1975 he was assigned to Guam to assist in the repatriation of refugees from Vietnam to the United States. Aside from family and work, automobiles were a major interest in his lifetime and he restored a number of antique and special interest cars.

He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Talbot and her granddaughter Tracy Langley. He is survived by his first wife Anita Sellers, his two children Dannah Hudson (Stu) and Steve Talbot (Susan), his grandchildren Abby Powell (Jason), Joram and Alena Talbot and his great grandchildren Mathew and Ryan Powell. He is also survived by his stepchildren and their spouses, Floyd, David, Bruce, and Douglas Langley, step grandchildren Donna Hall, Jennifer, Jill and Sara Langley and step great grandchildren William and Robert Wise.

Services

Visitation will be Saturday, August 15th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Amos Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow.
