Alice (AKay) Horner of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away November 27, 2013.

AKay grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and married Donald (Bud) Hartsell in 1946. He preceded her in death as did her father and mother, Virgil and Geneva Carter and her twin sisters Virginia Pennington and Dorothy Love.

The family moved to Johnson County where AKay was employed by the Gas Service Company for 36 years. She retired in 1988. AKay loved traveling with her husband Jim Horner, who also preceded her in death. Their trips often included their best friends. They loved the beaches, sightseeing, and golf.

She is survived by her son Richard Hartsell; daughter-in-law Barbara Hartsell; grandson Donald Hartsell; step-daughters Bonnie Burnley and Claudia Sikes; step-son Michael Horner; sisters, Ruana Cooper and Susanne Phillips; and a brother Bill Carter.

AKay enjoyed many years at her Lake of the Ozarks home, which will hold loving memories for family, whom she dearly loved.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m.
