Allan H. Rahe, 70, Shawnee, KS, passed away after a courageous battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia on April 23, 2014 in Kansas City, MO. Allan was born February 7th, 1944, in Clay Center, KS, to Harry and Irene Rahe and grew up on a farm in Linn, KS. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1967 with a degree in Engineering Physics. He studied Metallurgical Engineering for one year at the University of Oklahoma before completing his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri. Allan started his career at Bendix as an engineer in 1967. He continued to work at the Banister facility until his retirement from Honeywell in 2011. Allan married Shirley Heitman in June, 1966 in Linn, KS, and raised their three children in Shawnee, KS. Allan was an active member of Trinity Lutheran church where he and his wife were involved in the youth program for many years. He is survived by wife Shirley, daughter Lisa and husband Rick Walsh, son Eric and wife Susan Rahe, daughter Shelby and husband Mike Mealman and grandchildren McKinnon, Reagan and Macey Walsh, Avery and Hannah Rahe, Addison Mealman, and sister Judith Gross. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Irene Rahe, his in-laws, Lavern and Dora Heitman and brother-in-law Daryl Gross. The family would like to thank Kansas City Hospice Staff for the excellent care and support.
The visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Mon., April 28 at Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5601 W. 62nd St., Mission, KS.
