Andrew Bernard Gottesburen passed away on September 25, 2022 in Shawnee, KS. He was born on September 28, 1998 in Lexington, NE. He grew up in Shawnee and attended St. Joseph Catholic School. After high school, he went to Johnson County Community College becoming certified as both a nurse and medication aide. He was passionate about caring for others. He was currently enrolled in the LPN program with the ultimate goal of becoming an RN.
Andrew was an Eagle Scout from Troop 194. He achieved the rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts at the early age of 14. He had a love of animals spurring his Eagle project with the Kansas City Kansas Humane Society. Andrew recently became an adult leader in the troop teaching first aid and helping other boys achieve rank advancements. He loved to play rugby with Cougar Rugby and KCRFC teams. He was an avid outdoorsman hunting, fishing, camping, and disc golfing especially with his best buddies. He even trained his hunting dogs Riley and Pepper, “his girls”.
From a young age, Andrew was artistic. He participated in music including singing, playing the trumpet, guitar, and the bells. Painting came naturally and Andrew would share his art with his friends and family. His creativity crossed over into baking pies for family holidays.
Andrew could light up a room with his smile, make anyone laugh, and his stories were unforgettable. Andrew and Jessica were more than cousins, Andrew protected her like a brother. He enjoyed board and video games with his cousins. He was particularly fond of his three-year-old niece Diana, who had him wrapped around her little finger. His family and friends will miss the spurious phone calls.
Andrew is survived by his mom Karen of the home; his aunt Debbie; his cousin Jessica; and his grandparents Rose Marie and Mike Lindeken; and his extended loving grandparents, siblings, and cousins, in the Gottesburen, Peel, Schick, Sullivan, Towns and other families.
