Andrew (Drew) John Lorei, 31, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on July 16, 2023. Drew was born on March 3, 1992, to Greg and Diane Lorei in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the first grandchild born to both families and was a cherished blessing to all. His passing leaves an unfillable gap in our hearts.
Drew was a wonderful big brother to Nicholas, Anna, Alex and Jack. His intellect, humor and wit always brought people together, whether he was with family, friends or on the field playing sports. He attended Mill Creek Elementary School, Trailridge Middle School and Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, where he graduated in 2010. Drew’s passion was sports. In his early years, he played youth baseball and soccer, eventually finding his calling with high school basketball and track. One of his proudest moments was placing second in the high jump at the 2010 Kansas High School Track & Field Championships. Drew attended Pittsburg State University on a track scholarship and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and formed many close friendships during his time in college.
Drew was fun and energetic, and a very kind soul. His smile and contagious laugh could light up a room. Drew was a sports fanatic and loved his hometown Kansas City sports teams, frequently attending the Royals, Sporting KC and KC Current games. Drew was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and was a season ticket holder for several years. If you asked him what his favorite hobby was, he would probably reply with all things Chiefs and March Madness! He also loved playing soccer, building Legos and watching comedies.
Drew is survived by his parents Greg & Kim Lorei and Diane & Jim Tomassi; his brothers Alex Lorei and Jack Lorei; his sister Anna Tomassi; his stepbrother Nicholas Tomassi (Selena); his grandfather John Lorei; his grandparents Dennis & Carol Harsch; and his step-grandfather Don Niebuhr. Drew loved his siblings and his many aunts, uncles and cousins. Drew was preceded in death by his grandmothers Evelyn Lorei and Nancy Harsch Niebuhr, and his grandparents Bob & Barb Tomassi and Jack & Glee Bayouth.
