Andrew Thomas Paffen’s joyful spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched in his 36 years. His radiant smile, enthusiastic love for life and his kind and gentle spirit made a difference for each and every person who was blessed to know him. Andrew was a tremendously loving person, and never missed an opportunity to greet those in his life with a warm hug and a sincere and heartfelt, “I love you.”
Andrew Paffen, age 36, died on March 17, 2021 at home in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on June 7, 1984, the son of Susan Peterson, adopted by Edward and Rebecca Paffen. Andrew graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School and worked with his father at Becca Masonry for 20 years. Dedicated to the art of masonry, Andrew developed into an excellent mason. His craft of stone and brick masonry will be admired for decades, living long beyond any of us in homes, walkways and community spaces throughout our community.
Andrew was predeceased by his mothers, Susan Peterson and Rebecca Paffen, who both loved him dearly. Andrew is survived by his father, Edward Paffen; and his siblings, Jamie Peterson, Joe Doherty, Ali Paffen and Aiden Paffen.
Andrew was a true sports enthusiast and enjoyed attending Chiefs, Jayhawks, and Royals games with his dad. He was passionate about skateboarding and enjoyed sharing the sport with his friends. Music was an important part of Andrew’s life, and two of his favorite bands were Phish and The String Cheese Incident.
