Andy C. Gensch, Jr.

February 12, 1943 — May 9, 2010

Andy C. Gensch, Jr., 67 of Shawnee, Kansas, died May 9, 2010, at St. Lukes Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Andy was born February 12, 1943 in Torrington, Connecticut, to Andy, Sr. and Mary Gensch. He earned a business degree from New England College. His love of basketball led him to be an all star at player at New England College where he continues to hold the college’s single game scoring record. While there he met and married his wife of 46 years, Jo Anne Ciferri Gensch.

Andy worked as a Sales Engineer with Timken Corporation for 43 years. His career took the family to several states across the country where he developed lifelong friends from coast to coast.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnne Ciferri Gensch; his two children Andrew C. Gensch, III and his wife, Gail, of Overland Park, Kansas and Kimberly Gensch Jones and her husband, Mitchell, of Washington, DC; two granddaughters, Abby and Lauren Gensch; two sisters, Mary Ellen Gensch, Torrington, Connecticut and Ann F. Gensch, Torrington, Connecticut; and brother, Albert E. Gensch, North Babylon, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family’s wish is that any contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64105.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in the Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas
