Angela Schmidt

Angela Renee Melvin Schmidt, 41, Springfield, Missouri, died tragically on Sunday, April 28, 2013, resulting from an automobile accident.

Angela was born May 16, 1971, in Meridian, Mississippi, the first child of Connie Schmidt. She grew up in Olathe and Spring Hill, Kansas. She graduated from the University of Kansas, School of Nursing in 1994 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She was employed at Cox Medical Center in Springfield as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse and a Critical Care nurse. Her first love was always working in the NICU. It was her calling to take care of the babies.

Her life became complete with the birth of her 3 little men, Joseph Quentin Melvin, 14, Jacob Thomas Melvin, 13, and Luke Gerard Melvin, 10. Her world revolved around her boys. She loved them "up to the sky and back again as big as the whole wide world, up the hill and down the street forever and ever".

Survivors include her parents, Tom and Connie Schmidt, Spring Hill, Kansas; her sons, Joseph, Jacob, and Luke and the boys' father, Leon Arthur Melvin, Springfield, Missouri; her brother Mark and his wife Kathy and their daughter Laurol, Louisburg, Kansas; her brother Roy, Phoenix, Arizona; and her brother John and his children, Johnny, Jillian, and Xander, Spring Hill, Kansas; her aunt and uncle Sondra and Terry Cochran and their children, Christy Cochran Petska and George Cochran; her uncle Gary Schmidt and his sons, Harlow and Allen Schmidt.

Angela brightened the world with her smile and her love for her family and all of the babies that she cared for in her work as a NICU nurse. She greatly loved her Grandma and Grandpa Hodge, who have been waiting in Heaven to welcome her into their loving arms. She rests with them and will be forever missed by her loving family that remains here on earth. We love you, Baby Girl…always and forever beyond the end of time!

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas; burial in Spring Hill, Kansas Cemetery.
