Anna Mae Anderson, 80, longtime resident of Mesa, Arizona, passed away December 1, 2012 at Delmar Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas.
Anna Mae was born in Wapello County, Iowa. She married Roger Anderson in Des Moines in 1958, and lived on the Anderson family farm near Palmer, Iowa, before they moved to Ames, where Roger attended Iowa State University. After graduating and living for a short time in Watseka, Illinois, and Oelwein, Iowa, they moved to Ottawa, Illinois, in 1972, and raised their two daughters there.
They retired to Mesa, Arizona, in 1988. Anna Mae loved Arizona, and was a first-class tour guide of the area to many visitors throughout the years. She moved to the Kansas City area in 2009 due to declining health. Anna Mae was proceeded in death by her husband, Roger. She leaves her two daughters, Linda (Kevin) O'Donohue of Fairfax, Virginia, and Marti (Pat) Palmer of Overland Park, Kansas, and two grandchildren, Alex O'Donohue and Devin Palmer.
A memorial service will honor her life on Friday, December 7, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Mesa, Arizona. She will be buried at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa, with her husband, Roger.
The family would appreciate any expressions of sympathy be contributed in the name of Anna Mae Anderson to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, or the American Heart Association.
