Anthony Scarpa, 74, entered into eternal rest Mon., July 20, 2015, in Shawnee, KS. Born on June 28, 1941, to Rose and Ralph Scarpa of North Arlington, NJ, he graduated from Queen of Peace High School before earning a Business Administration degree from Seton Hall University. He served in the Army Reserves for six years. Tony married the love of his life, Lynn Mary Traynor on Dec. 3, 1966. Tony was employed as a Distribution Manager at Armour-Swift-Eckrich/Con Agra for 36 years before retiring in the year 2000. He was a devout member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Shawnee who frequently attended daily Mass and served at the St. Mary's food kitchen. In addition, he was an avid KU basketball fan, loved photography, spending time with his grandchildren and taking cruises. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Ralph Scarpa. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Scarpa of the home; brother, Ray Scarpa (Donna) of Colorado Springs, CO; two sons, Michael Scarpa (Elli) of Mason, OH, and Alan Scarpa (Tara) of Overland Park; and two daughters, Christina Taggart (Jay) of Kansas City and Jennifer Norman (Chris) of Kirksville, MO. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Sydney, Avery, Leah, Taylor, Brady, Mia, Mackenzie and Clayton.
Visitation will be Friday, July 24, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66203. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 AM Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church 12800 W. 75th Street Shawnee, Kansas 66216, burial to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or to the American Lung Association.
