Ardis A. Obrien

Ardis Ann O'Brien, 72, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Dec. 11, 2014, surrounded by loved ones.

Ardis is survived by her daughters, Robin Parker (Jason) of Shawnee, KS, Anne Phillips of Lenexa, KS, and step-daughter, Kelly Vetter (Eric) of Leavenworth, KS, her Robert Ferguson of Chicago, IL, as well as 4 grandchildren, Jacob Parker, Caleb, Courtney, and Cory Vetter. Ardis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ira O'Brien of Shawnee, KS and her parents, Robert and Ardis Ferguson of Marysville, KS.

Ardis was born on June 7, 1942, in Marysville, KS. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1960. Following graduation, Ardis attended Kansas State University and the University Of Kansas School of Nursing where she earned her BS in Nursing in 1964. Ardis also earned a MS in Education at Emporia State. Ardis was a pediatrics and obstetrics nurse at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City and then a nursing instructor at St. Luke's School of Nursing. She took great pride in having many of her former students take such wonderful care of her during her hospitalizations.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday at Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Dr. Funeral services will be at 11 am, Tuesday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5325 Nieman Rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either St. Luke's College of Nursing or St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
