Armita Scheiner Kips

Mrs. Robert Kips (Armita Rose Scheiner) passed away May 11, 2018 in Merriam, Kansas. Mrs. Kips was born January 26, 1921 to Edna (Kespohl) and George William Scheiner in Hannibal, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, an infant brother, Leo Milton Scheiner, her sisters, Dorris Scheiner Harrison and Wilma Scheiner Webb. Her beloved husband, Robert Edward Kips died in 1982.

Mrs. Kips is survived by her three sons, Stephen Randall Kips of Pahrump, Nevada, Larry Douglas Kips of Mission, Kansas, and Robert Bruce Kips of Shawnee, Kansas, 5 grandchildren and two nephews.

After several moves due to her husband's job, Mrs. Kips and her family settled in Overland Park, Kansas in 1956 where she and her husband raised their three sons.

Mrs. Kips was a devoted wife and mother. Her energies were focused on supporting her husband's career ambitions and ensuring her sons grew up in a loving family environment. She was active in community and school events. Mrs. Kips served as Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. She enjoyed the company of friends and family and was known for her holiday cookie exchange gatherings.

Mrs. Kips' interests were wide-ranging. She was a naturally gifted vocalist who, as a young woman, spent some time as lead singer with a band from Hannibal, MO. She turned her creativity to designing and building two homes. She enjoyed genealogy research which led to her induction into the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Visitation will be held in Shawnee, Kansas at The Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, May 14, 2018 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm followed immediately by a funeral service. Graveside services will take place at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, Missouri, Tuesday, May 15 at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks mourners to consider donating to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 in memory of Robert E. Kips or Trinity Nursing and Rehab Center, 9700 West 62nd Street, Merriam, KS 66203 in memory of Armita R. Kips.
