Arthur Wood “Woody” Mcnaughton

Arthur Wood "Woody" McNaughton, 78, of Overland Park, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 25 in a motor vehicle accident at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Woody was born August 23, 1937 to the late Arthur Sperry and Minnie Lee McNaughton in Kansas City, Missouri. A lifelong area resident, Woody graduated from Westport High School in 1955, and went on to attend Central Missouri State University and earned an Associate's degree from Rockhurst University in 1975. On September 4, 1957, Woody married LuAnn Sharp in Kansas City. Over his 35 year career, Woody worked for Western Electric and Southwestern Bell before retiring in 1990. After retirement, Woody worked at Pharmacy Corporation of America. Woody was an active member of Shawnee United Methodist Church where he served as a member of the Trustees, volunteered in the office and was a member of the Keystone Sunday School class. He was also very active with the Boy Scouts of America. He earned the rank of Life Scout and served as a Scout Commissioner in the Kansas City area. Woody was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, Order of the Arrow, and earned the Wood Badge. Woody loved spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he would love to tinker around the cabin.

Woody is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, LuAnn; two daughters, Robin Love and husband Keith; Shelly McNaughton-Lawrence and husband Eric Lawrence; a son, Arthur Brian McNaughton; four granddaughters, Diana Miller and husband Dylan; Karla DeCoster and husband Nicholas; Sarah Lawrence and fiancé David Troeh; Bronwyn McNaughton; two grandsons, Nathan Love; Sean Lawrence; great granddaughter, Kaylee Miller; great grandson, Benjamin DeCoster; and a sister Betty Watkins.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 31 at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1 at the Shawnee United Methodist Church. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church.
