Augusta C. “Dusty” Klaus

Augusta C. Klaus, 96, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Elmcroft Assisted Living.

Augusta was born December 2, 1914, to the late John and Augusta Werner in Ellinwood, Kansas. She married Clarence "C.J." Klaus, December 31, 1936, in Salina, Kansas. He preceded her in death after over 63 years of marriage, on November 28, 2000.

Dusty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for over 41 years before moving to Epiphany of the Lord Parish in Oklahoma City for the last 11 years. She was an avid golfer, and enjoyed baking pies, cookies, and tending to her flower garden. Dusty always wore a pair of earrings and a loving smile.

She is also preceded in death by her twin brother William, and two sisters, Betty and Pauline. Dusty is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Owens and husband Joseph and Shirley Hicks and husband Lawrence; three grandsons, Travis Hicks and wife Roxanne, Jason Hicks and wife Lori, and Lance Hicks and wife Karen; seven great grandchildren Amber, Alyssa, Jared, Justin, Ryan, Courtney and Cody; and sister, Margaret Mosley.

The family wishes to express appreciation to Elmcroft Assisted Living and Autumn Bridge Hospice for their loving care and comfort.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee Kansas 66203.
