Ava Jo Downs

Ava Jo Downs, 87, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away January 18, 2013. She was born April 12, 1925 in Hopkins, Missouri, to Clarence and Margaret Fisher Gillespie.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Downs in 1999 and by a grandson Bart Downs. Jo is survived by her sons, Bob Downs and wife Becky, and Tim Downs and his wife Debbie; nine grandchildren; a brother Guy Gillespie; and sister, Ruth Bowlin.

Jo was a dedicated wife and loving mother. She enjoyed her social life while selling Avon, working at Optimist baseball fields and dining out with her husband Hugh. Jo recently attended Timothy Lutheran Church with her family.

A visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2013, also at the funeral home. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
