Shri Balbir Singh born 1st Dec, 1938, was the oldest son of Late Shri Awtar Singh ( recipient of President awardee of India) and Shrimati Basant Kaur. Balbir Singh lived life to the fullest for 80 years before passing away suddenly but peacefully on April 6th, 2019. He had a very pleasant day before his death dispensing his responsibility as a father blessing his youngest daughter Seema in holy matrimony with Harminder S Gill in Kansas City.

Shri Balbir Singh's life started with very humble beginnings with three brothers Late Shri Narendar Singh Uppal, Late Shri Surinder Singh Uppal, Shri Inderjeet Singh Uppal and one sister Shrimati Upinder Kaur Sahni.  Balbir Singh matriculated from from Agra College and later graduated from the prestigious Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad - class of 1958. He went for training in Kolar Gold Mines near Bangalore after graduation.  Sardar Balbir Singh was married to Late Sardarni Gobind Kaur ( Aug 1938 - Feb 2002) and were happily married for 42 years. Balbir Singh is survived by three daughters, Gurpreet Sethi, Ardeep Khanna, Seema Singh and three son in law's Suthinder Pal Singh Sethi, Nitin Khanna and Harminder Singh Gill. He was a very doting grandfather of Armaan Sethi, Chetna Khanna and Sumpreet Singh Arora and he adored his grandchildren.  Balbir Singh had a decorated career working at Hindustan Copper Limited. He retired as Executive Director after 48 years of service.

Balbir Singh will be remembered fondly as a hard working, curiously inquisitive person, very capable of asking thought provoking questions and an unfathomable appetite for life. He loved his 80 years of life and lived fully and joyously with a wonderful sense of humor. Was looking forward to becoming a US citizen and also visiting daughter Ardeep Khanna's Olive farm in Spain. He was a very spiritual person devoted much of his time in worshiping the Omnipowerful God Almighty.
Balbir Singh's life will be celebrated and cherished forever and his legacy will carry on with his daughters families and their children. He was a pillar of strength for the entire family and he will be missed dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 11th at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203.
