Barbara A. Andersen

Barbara A. Andersen, 81, Olathe, KS passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2014.

Born August 21, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Harold T. and Eathea "Peggy" Bown, Barbara grew up in Roland Park, KS. In 1953, she married Gene L. Andersen, and lived in Overland Park and Shawnee, KS, and for a brief period in San Diego, CA, with him and her two sons. Barbara held a deep Christian faith, attending Full Faith Church of Love and Crosspoints Church in Shawnee, KS. She worked as a keypunch operator for TWA and for the Mission Bank. Generous with her time, Barbara volunteered at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and her church. Barbara loved painting and the arts, and created lovely images and banners that adorned churches and private homes. She shared a life-long love of the outdoors and spent many summers camping in the mountains with her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, and embodied dignity and grace throughout her life.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Gene L. Andersen in 1993. Survivors include her two sons, Gary (Teresa Woods) Andersen, Olathe, KS and Greg (Debra) Andersen, Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren, Tim (Amy) Andersen, Adam Andersen, Erika Andersen and Michael Andersen; and one great granddaughter, Madison Andersen.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Amos Family Funeral Home; burial in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
