Barbara Jean Arthur, 88, of Overland Park, formerly of Sun City, Arizona, passed away Sunday morning, January 26, 2014, at the Sweet Life at Brookdale.

Barbara was born February 19, 1925, in Donora, Pennsylvania, to the late Tony and Warda Johns. She graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. Barbara spent her career as a Medical Technologist at the KU Medical Center and retired after 28 years of service in 1988. She enjoyed painting watercolors and collecting antiques in her free time.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William J. Arthur. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Griffiths and husband Larry; three sons, Douglas Arthur; Rex Arthur and wife Becky; and Chad Arthur; a brother, Dr. Nicholas Johns and wife Doris; and a sister, Iris and husband Dr. Donald Miller, three grandchildren: David Arthur and wife Nicole, Maria Arthur and Lucas Griffiths; and three great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life Services

A Celebration of Barbara's life will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
