Barbara Adams Dye

b. April 23, 1939

Barbara Adams Dye passed away peacefully on April 28th with her family by her side. She was born on April 23, 1939 to Robert Carr Adams and Martha (Wilson) Adams in Waterbury, Connecticut. She married Hubert M. Dye Jr. in 1967 and they had two children Elizabeth Dye (Schulte) and Alexander Dye.

Barbara graduated from Grace-New Haven Nursing School in 1961. Following graduation she served as a nurse at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Hospital in New York City where she met her husband who was serving as a chaplain.  Barbara earned her BSN from Mid-America Nazarene College and continued her nursing career at the Olathe Nursing Home, the Visiting Nurse Association, and worked much of her career in the field of psychiatric and mental health nursing.

Barbara's smile was sweet and genuine, and her beautiful laugh could brighten any room. She had a tender soul and a wide open heart that she shared with everyone.  Barbara was easy to love, and she never missed an opportunity to tell those around her how much she loved and appreciated them. Some of her favorite things in life were gardenias, calamari, Alfie Boe's voice, late night movies, and the beauty of nature.  She enjoyed cooking and graced the Kansas City area with her culinary talents for over 10 years while running a catering business called Lagniappe (an extra measure).  Some of her fondest memories were the tree at her childhood home (which she used with endless imagination), early morning fishing with her dad and evenings by oil lamp at her family cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, and summer days with family at the cabin in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Scott) Schulte, son Alexander (Jenner) Dye, granddaughters Hazel and Hattie Dye. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her sister Lynne Geldard. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara always said "Heaven is a place where you're a size 6 and there are no piles." We know she is enjoying these things now!
