February 26, 1930 — November 26, 2010

Barbara Jeanne Stensrud, 80, Overland Park, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010, at Lakeview Village in Lenexa.

Barbara was born February 26, 1930, to the late Herman and Luella Hanson in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Barbara received an Associate's Degree from Winona Teachers College in Winona, Minnesota. On August 21, 1949, Barbara married Victor C. Stensrud in Freeborn, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1993, after 44 years of marriage.

Barbara was a very active member of Knox Presbyterian Church. She served as a Deacon, as well as being a Stephen Minister, and sang in the Choir. Barbara was also involved with several committees and bible study groups. She was a member of the PEO, and enjoyed volunteering her time at several area hospitals as well as lending a helping hand at Top Drawer Consignment Shop and Vita, a tax income assistance group for the elderly and low income families. When Barbara wasn’t busy volunteering, she enjoyed spending her time working a crossword puzzle, or spending time with her family playing cards and laughing.

Barbara leaves behind a daughter, Christine Gardner and husband Jeff, two sons, Kent Stensrud and wife Susan; and Michael Stensrud and wife Jovita; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Barbara will be missed by many friends and family. She is preceded in death by a sister, Avis Pederson, a brother, Chester Hanson, and an infant son. Barbara was a classic christian servant and will be sorely missed by many friends and family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Knox Presbyterian Church, 9595 W. 95th Street, Overland Park, Kansas.
