Barbara Jane (Morrison) Wilkin age 81 passed away Sunday January 3, 2021. Barbara was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on June 4, 1939 to parents Graham John Morrison and Alice Josephine (Brassington) Morrison. A 1957 graduate of Eddyville High School, she married her husband of 39 years, James L. Wilkin at Trinity Episcopal Church on August 31, 1957. Barbara and Jim raised their children Laura and Robert in Ottumwa before moving to Arkansas City Kansas in 1974, Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1982 and Lenexa Kansas in 1997.
Barbara had a passionate interest in children and education. She worked as a Montessori teacher and director for over 35 years. She had a deep faith and love of the Lord, always belonging to the Episcopal church. She was active in prayer groups and choirs where she relished the scripture and beautiful music in the hymns. She was a proud member of the League of Women Voters, the Democratic National Committee and Beta Sigma Phi. Barbara was always up for spending time with her family, playing games, doing needlework and watching her beloved University of Kansas Jayhawks. Barbara is survived by her children Laura Jean (Mike) Hurley of Parker, CO, and Robert James (Cristi) Wilkin of Overland Park, KS; her adored grandchildren Jordan Wilkin of Overland Park, KS, Evan Hurley of Broomfield, CO, Ashton Wilkin of Shawnee, KS and Liz Hurley of Playa del Rey, CA; siblings Connie Harding of Eddyville, IA, Charles Morrison of Iowa City, IA, and Nancy Edgar of Waterloo, IA; in-laws Grace (Ronnie) Francis of Eddyville, IA, Carol Wilkin of Pella IA, Shirley (Jack) Tingle of East Lansing, MI, Archie (Karen) Wilkin of Apache Junction, AZ, Judee Morrison of Paradise Valley, AZ and Kathleen Wilkin of Windsor Heights, IA; she loved her nieces and nephews and their children.
