Bernard “Bubba” Miller

Bernard F. "Bubba" Miller, 73, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010.

Bernard was born December 15, 1936 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Albert and Agnes (Crowley) Miller. Bernard was raised in Shawnee, Kansas. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and a member of their first football team. Bernard was a brick mason and member of Union Local #18 for 50 years. He served four terms as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council #2332. He also was a very proud manager of the Knights of Columbus fast pitch softball team in the late 60's and early 70's, and managed the K of C Club Room and Starwood Park for over 25 years. He was an avid Chiefs fan and spent many enjoyable weekends with family and friends at his summer home, Lake of the Ozarks.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert Miller, Daniel Miller and Michael Miller; sisters- in-law Berniece Miller and Barbara A. Miller and nephew, Gregory Miller. He leaves his wife, Marjorie Miller; two daughters, Terri Miller and Susie (Jeff) Meyers; two granddaughters, Caitlin and Brenna Meyers. He also leaves three sisters, Carole (Bob) Burns, Kathy (Mark) Gandy, Aggie (Alan) Willoughby; three brothers, Albert Miller, John (Barbara) Miller and Tom Miller; brother-in-law, Bill (Mary) Van Nieuwenhuyse. He has left numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and will be missed by all who knew him. Harder than nails, tougher than bricks, St. Joe Class of '56.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Friends may call from 6-8:00 pm, Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a Rosary recitation will be at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Friday, June 11, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas. Burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
