Bernice Van Hee

Bernice Van Hee, 88, passed peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2011.

Bernice was born August 28, 1922 to Cyril J. Lust and Mary DeGraeve Lust. She and her husband of 69 years, Charles, worked side by side on their vegetable farm. They also operated a vegetable stand and she was affectionately known as "The Tomato Lady". Bernice and her husband were active in the local Belgium community.

Bernice is survived by her husband Charles and four daughters Darlene (Bob) Zukel, Doris (Jim) Peckron, Mary Lee (Steve) Dillbeck and Christine (David) Ferguson; seven grandchildren Travis (Megan) Thayer, Brian (Jennifer) Dillbeck, Peter Zukel, Paul Dillbeck, Lynne (Robert) Cobin, Lee Ann Dillbeck, Elizabeth (Cooper) Smith; eight great grandchildren Liam, Grace and Maggie Thayer, Sierra, Chloe and Genevieve Dillbeck, Alexandria Cobin and Lucy Smith and one brother, Frank (Shirley) Lust.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Margaret Lust, Mary Van Hoet, Elise Van Hee and four brothers Edward, Henry, Cyril "June" and Bill Lust.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th Street, Shawnee, Kansas 66216 or Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64145.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 5 to 7 PM at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Monday, June 13, 2011, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas, with burial to follow in Resurrection Mausoleum, Lenexa, Kansas.
