Bernice Klein passed away on August 20, 2021 at Morningside Place Memory Care in Overland Park, Kansas. She was 89 years old.
She was born in Merriam, Kansas on June 30, 1932 to Albert and Hattie Jenks, the only girl with three older brothers. Bernice met Harold Klein at Kenneth Smith Golf Company where she was working as a secretary at the time. The two hit it off and were married for over 67 years. They were blessed with 4 children; Cindy, Larry, Dennis and Sandy.
Bernice was a talented seamstress. She owned E & K Garment Company, where she specialized in sewing Catholic school uniforms. She also sewed wedding dresses and helped with alterations for various other clothing. She enjoyed spending time outside in her garden, and taking care of her children and home. Bernice was a spitfire, and always spoke her mind. She loved deeply, even when it came across as “tough love.” Bernice is preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, her husband Harold, and son Dennis Klein. She is survived by children Cindy (Bill) Dunham, Larry (Mary) Klein, and Sandy Biggs; 10 grand-children; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other friends and loved ones who will miss her greatly.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26th, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10-10:45 am, with a rosary prayed at 10:45 am. A funeral mass will begin at 11 am, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS 66203.
