Bert Joseph Gastl, Jr

Bert Joseph Gastl, Jr ("Joe"), passed away October 14, 2020. Joe was born on February 3, 1928 in Shawnee, Kansas. Joe was a lifelong resident of Shawnee and member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 and worked at the Shawnee branch of the U.S. Post Office for nearly 30 years. Upon retirement, Joe served as a volunteer delivery driver for Meals on Wheels in Johnson County, Kansas. Joe enjoyed traveling and was an avid gardener; he particularly enjoyed growing roses. Joe also loved animals.

Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol; parents, Bert and Bessie Gastl; and brother LeRoy Gastl. He is survived by his daughter, Shelly Jones (Blake); brothers, Eugene Gastl, George Gastl; and several nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to City Union Mission or the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City.
