Betty Loraine (Kelley) Brooks Brown

Betty Loraine (Kelley/Brooks) Brown, 94, Wellsville, KS passed peacefully on September 6, 2023, from her earthly home and onto her eternal home with her Creator and Lord.

Betty was born to Samuel and Ethel Kelley on September 16, 1928, in Kansas City, KS. She attended Turner High School. Although, life did not allow her to graduate with her peers, she never lost her dream to earn her diploma. Betty accomplished that goal after months of hard work and received her GED when she was 72 years old.

In her younger years, Betty enjoyed bowling, hosting people in her home, and preparing meals for as many family members as could come for the Holidays. Betty spent her last five years at Wellsville Retirement Community, where she felt very at home, made friends and enjoyed many activities.

Betty married George Brooks in May of 1946. They were married for 42 years when George passed away. Betty and George had two children, Steven Brooks and Mark Brooks. Betty later married Al Brown in June 2010. They were married until Al’s passing in 2018.

Betty was preceded in death by her two husbands, son, Steven Brooks, parents, six siblings, and many cousins. She leaves behind her son, Mark Brooks and his wife, Gerda, Germany;  five grandchildren; eighteen-great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10-11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Amos Family Funeral Home; burial in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to KanKen Connect, www.KanKenConnect.org.
