Betty Alice Johnson, 91, of Belton, MO; formerly of Shawnee, KS passed away Wednesday, October 04, 2017 at Carnegie Village in Belton.
Betty was born, April 27, 1926 to the late Henry and Lillian Rice in Harrisonville, Missouri. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1944. Shortly after graduating she married Wallis B. Johnson on November 16, 1946. She was a dedicated mother until her children went to school, then she went to work for the Shawnee Mission School District as a cafeteria worker at Hocker Grove Middle school for over 45 years before retiring at the young age of 85. Betty looked forward to holiday gatherings for a chance to catch up and cook with family.
Betty is survived by her children, Steven Johnson and wife Evelyn; William Johnson and wife Judy; six grandchildren, Kimberly Nielsen and husband Bentley; Douglas Johnson and wife Angie; Pamela Kolbe and husband Kendall; Dylan Johnson and girlfriend Kaitlyn Marie; Shawn Johnson and wife Tiffany; Sarah Blasi and husband Scott; and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Wallis B. Johnson, February 16, 1996 and her son, David W. Johnson and his wife Donna.
Visitation will be 10 am to 11 am, Friday October 6 at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee. Funeral services will follow visitation at 11 am. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas.
