Betty June Howard Kramer

Betty June Howard Kramer passed away November 28, 2016 at Garden Terrace, Overland Park, Kansas.

She was born on June 27, 1929 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Her family moved to Argentine, KS when she 14 years old. She attended Argentine High School in Kansas City, KS until moving to St. Joseph, Missouri her senior year. She graduated from St. Joseph Central High School in 1947, but remained an Argentine Alum all of her life, forging many friendships that lasted a lifetime.

She married the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) Kramer, February 5, 1950. Jerry and Betty had two daughters. Betty worked for the American Hereford Association. She also had a career with Sherwin Williams beginning as a bookkeeper before moving into the role of one of the first female managers. After retirement she loved being the "Hostess with the Mostess" for Torreador Mexican Restaurant owned by her daughter Gayla and husband, Fritz. Betty was a long time member of Merriam Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, twin sisters Irene Howard LeMasters and Ilo Eileen Howard Lichteig, sisters, JoAnn Howard, Carol Howard Willis, Gladys Howard and parents Basil and Nelle Howard. She is survived by sisters Bess Michaelson (Ron) of Leawood, KS; Cathy Worley (Ken) of Kansas City, MO; and Patricia Melton of Overland Park, KS; and two brothers, John Howard (Mary) of Marysville, KS; and Robert Howard (Carlyn) of St. Joseph, MO, two daughters, Gayla Kramer George (Fred "Fritz") and Brooke Kramer Hertel (Carl), grandchildren Amanda Lee Mandy" Henning (Scott), Brandon George, Rebecca Swain (Matthew), Nicholas "Nick" George, Adam George, Ehren Hertel and Drew Hertel, great-grandchildren Anna Henning, Emma Henning, McKenna George, Mitchell Swain, Austin Swain and Simon George.

She will also be warmly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Betty touched more lives than can be mentioned. Her home and heart were always open for anyone that needed a place to stay or arms to hug them. She was the best "Mimi" in the world! The family would like to send heartfelt appreciation to all the staff of Garden Terrace for the wonderful care. We know you will miss "Betty June".

Services will be held at the Amos Family Funeral Home, Shawnee, KS, Sunday, January 8th. Visitation 2:00 pm, service to follow, 3:00 PM.

Donations may be made to Betty's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
