Betty Lou Neely, 79, Lenexa, Kansas died at St. Luke’s Hospice House on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
A memorial visitation will be Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Amos Family Funeral Home. Burial will be the Pleasant View Cemetery following the visitation. Family requests masks be worn.
Betty was born on September 28, 1942 to Frank and Freda (Shelton) Casey in Joplin, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Neely on November 29, 1992; her parents; sister-in-law, Bobette and many aunts and uncles.
Survivors include her daughter, Patty (Harold) Schwindt; son, Jon (Gary) Neely; two granddaughters, Nicole and Amanda; three great granddaughters, Lilyann, Madison, Abigail and one great grandson, Silus; her brother, Gary “Butch” Casey and two nieces, Elyce and Gipper.
Betty dedicated her life to her family and accomplished many things in 79 years. She ensured her family was always supported, spent many years involved with the PTA, being a room mother sometimes for both of our rooms. Later she worked in the health care field in many different capacities. After Larry's death she continued to do things with her grandchildren that she and Larry planned to do together. As recently as this past summer she taught her great granddaughter Lilyann to drive. Betty was also a lover of music and could often be seen enjoying a concert at Sprint Center, her most recent concert was Asleep at the Wheel at Kauffman Center on October 30th. Like Betty said remember her for the glitz, handbags, jewelry and fun times.
This is straight from Betty Casey Neely ... And I quote
Well if someone is reading, I have received my Angel Wings. I don’t want tears or sadness just a celebration of my life, which was damn good. I married the love of my life, which was taken too soon, had a daughter and a son, 2 granddaughters, 3 great granddaughters 1 great grandson and 2 son in laws. What a grand tour of life I have had, I was a Good-Hearted Woman, loved life had ups and downs, but recovered. I have had a great family, friends, and picked up the pieces after I lost Larry, which he had groomed me for. My friends and family rallied around and put the strength in me to be strong again. Thanks to All, I would not have gotten this far without all the love, help and a little pushing. I do have a lot of my mom and dad in me and watch that Hurricane Go I also kept the broom in my closet and I hope it got cremated with me. So no flowers, no tears, just good memories and Lots of Love. Remember me for the Glitz, handbags, jewelry and fun times. A loving and caring mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt and friend
