Betty Mae Ogrady

Betty Mae O'Grady, 90, passed away November 27, 2010, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born on August 1, 1920, in Moline, Illinois, and grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. Betty was united in marriage October 27, 1945, to Leo F. O'Grady and together they raised 5 sons in Roeland Park, Kansas.

During World War II Betty supported the war effort by working in a Firestone plant. She was an avid Bridge player and was a member of several groups in the area. Betty also enjoyed playing golf, and played well into her eighties. She is a former member of St. Pius X and St. Joseph Parishes as well as being a current member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Leo, and her parents, Marie and Wilson "Doc" Brewer.

She is survived by her sons and their wives, Pat and Betty O'Grady of Kansas City, Kansas; Mike and Louise O'Grady, Dennis and Kitty O'Grady, Brian O'Grady, and Tim and Maureen O'Grady, all of Overland Park, Kansas, a sister, Mary Terrebonne, Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and many other children who regarded her as their beloved Grandma Betty.

Betty will be terribly missed by her friends and family and will always be remembered as a wonderful mother who welcomed all into her family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Children's Mercy Hospital for Juvenile Diabetes Research.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, burial will follow in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa.
