Betty Francis (Monckton) Saul, VanSchoelandt, known affectionately as Betty, was born on July 4, 1922, in Barry, Pike, Illinois, and peacefully passed away on April 17, 2024, in Tarpon Springs, Florida, at the age of 101.

Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose life revolved around her family. She found joy in being there for her loved ones, always putting their needs above her own. Betty had a green thumb and took great pleasure in tending to her garden, creating beautiful spaces filled with blooming flowers and lush plants. Her culinary skills were unparalleled, and she expressed her love through the delicious meals she prepared for those she cherished.

A woman of deep faith, Betty's devotion to The Lord, Jesus Christ, was unwavering. She found solace in attending mass regularly when her health allowed, or tuning in to watch Mass on television from the comfort of her home. Betty was a faithful Catholic who raised her sons in the church and exemplified kindness and generosity towards everyone she encountered.

Betty's life was marked by resilience and courage as she faced numerous challenges with steadfast faith in her Lord and Savior. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand or offer comfort to those in need, embodying compassion and selflessness in all aspects of her life.

Betty is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Saul, her second husband, John Van Schoelandt, her brother, Robert Monckton, and five sisters: Rita Kuhlman, Vera McGowan, Mary Frese, Doris Wavering, and Norma Jean Andrew. She is also predeceased by her granddaughter Julie Ann (Saul) Koehn, and Anthony Koehn.

Betty is survived by her sons, Thomas Saul and his wife Veronica, Bernie Saul, as well as her grandsons, John Saul, Mathew Saul, Bradley Saul, Casey Duncan Saul, great grandchildren Maxwell Koehn, Owen Saul, Emma (Saul) Ferguson, Storm Saul, Samara Saul, and great great grandchildren Slone Saul, Landen Saul, Arthur Ferguson, and Shiloe Ferguson.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Betty's life will be announced at a later date. Betty's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her as a loving, caring, and compassionate presence in their lives. May she rest in eternal peace.
