Betty L. Shriver

Betty L. Shriver, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, proud veteran, and a woman of faith.

Betty was born in Paola, Kansas. At the age of 18, she joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served during WWII. Betty was married to Kenneth O. Shriver until his passing in 1989. Betty was a dedicated mother who took great care in raising her seven children and greatly loved and enjoyed her grandchildren. She was devoted to God and her Catholic faith, attending Mass and adoration nearly daily as long as she was physically able. She also volunteered often at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth O. Shriver and her son Kenneth P. Shriver. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her daughter Ann McCarraher and husband Dave, Daughter-in-law Suzanne Shriver, son David and wife Jane, son Christopher and wife Lisa, Daughter Mary Murphy and husband Michael, son Mark and wife Gina, and son Peter and wife Terri. Betty cherished her grandchildren Michael, Daniel, Carolyn, Margaret, Maureen, Rebecca, Megan, Courtney, Bobby, Nathan, Rose, Phillip, and Emily; and great grandchildren Maddie, Kenneth, Joseph, Bella, Molly, and Elsie. Betty will be greatly missed and always remembered by those dear to her.

Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at the church. Burial will take place in Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, Kansas.
