Bobbie L. Molloy (83) of Olathe, Kansas sadly left us on February 11, 2024. He left peacefully in his sleep while watching his beloved Chiefs.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Molloy, his sons Glen Molloy, and Mark Molloy, brother David Molloy, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was born and raised in Bucklin, Missouri from 1940-1958. He is preceded in death by his 1 brother, Jim and his parents, Albert, and Katherine Molloy. Bob moved to Kansas City, Missouri, on his high school graduation night. He served in the United States Air Force in 1960 stationed at Ellis Airforce Base where he was a crew chief for military aircraft. In 1967 he moved to Lenexa where he started his family and worked for Ford Motor Company, in the Parts Warehouse for 37 years. In 1973 he took an interest in local government by getting involved with the City of Lenexa by holding a position on the Parks and Recreation Board, Judged The Great Lenexa BBQ for 28 years, and participated in local politics and the Lenexa cemetery board. In 2000 he retired from Ford and moved to the City of Olathe where he was President of the Homeowners Association at the Palisades on College Boulevard for 20 years.
Bob and his wife, Nancy were entrepreneurs and opened Molloy’s Beauty Shop in 1980 where it is still thriving today in Lenexa, Kansas, as a small hometown hair salon. He enjoyed fishing, barbecues, local parades, community events such as Lenexa Chili Cookoff, 4th of July Freedom Run, and traveling.
A celebration of life is scheduled in Bob’s honor at Amos Family Funeral Home on Saturday, February 24, 2024. A visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. with a service starting at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at the Lenexa Cemetery, 8833 Pflumm Road, Lenexa, Kansas 66215. A lunch will be held for immediate family and close friends at the Palisades College Clubhouse, 11330 Pflumm, Olathe, Kansas, 66215 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the Molloy family is accepting donations to place a park bench in at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park in Lenexa, Kansas, in memory of Bob Molloy. Please send donations to the Lenexa
