Bonnie Maurine Slauson was born June 27, 1921, on a farm near Benedict, Kansas, in rural Wilson County. Her parents were Grant and Bonnie Morse Travis. An older brother Maurice K Travis is deceased. In 1931, the family moved to Altoona, Kansas, where her father operated a lumber yard. By the age of 12, Bonnie was able to keep the books for the business. She attended elementary and high schools in Altoona. She then earned a Teaching Certificate at Kansas State Teacher's College at Pittsburg, Kansas. In 1941, she married Roger F. Templin, a pilot in the United States Air Force. In January 1974, she was widowed by the death of her husband Roger. In December of 1978, she married Wayne S. Slauson.

On November 8, 2013, Bonnie passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at home in Shawnee, Kansas. She leaves behind her loving husband Wayne; her three children, Karen S. Baker, Roger T. Templin and Jeffre L. Templin; step-children, Connie Ubben, Janet Anderson, and Paul Slauson; grandchildren Taggart Templin, Cody Templin, Aaron Templin, Grant Templin, Summer Dawn Culp, Michael Ames, and Heather Brooks; and several great grandchildren.

Bonnie and Wayne had 35 wonderful years together and during most of that time, they were both retired. She enjoyed traveling in their RV, and spending summers for the last 17 years in their cabin in Lake City, Colorado. Many people complimented her in her later years on how pretty she was. She was indeed a pretty lady, a sweet person with a beautiful soul to match. We won't say goodbye, for we shall see her once again in that home beyond the sunset.
