Brenda Wood

Brenda Kay Wood, 61, passed away from natural causes on October 27, 2017.  She was born on February 21, 1956, in Kansas City, KS, to Truman and Imogene Wood.

Brenda attended Shawnee Mission Northwest High School.   She pursued a higher education at Johnson County Community College and became a Registered Nurse, a field that suited her perfectly.

Brenda was an amazing woman; a genuinely kind individual.  She was incredibly selfless and considerate, always putting the needs of others before her own. Brenda became a Registered Nurse to fulfill her love of science and medicine.  She excelled in the field due to her compassionate nature, always an advocate for the patient with impeccable bedside manner.  Brenda stayed current on local and national events and enjoyed passionate discussions about everything from politics, to the most recent episode of a favorite television show.   Brenda was a natural born tinkerer.  She could fix electronics, construct furniture, repair a lawn mower, design a perfect house, and still put on the finest of Thanksgiving dinners.  Family was of utmost importance to Brenda.  She enjoyed hosting holiday celebrations, but cherished any and all family gatherings.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Truman Wood, mother, Imogene Wood (Slawson) and sister-in-law Angela Wood (Hurst). Brenda is survived by her sister, Barbara Norton (Wood) and husband Lytle, brother Jeff Wood, daughter Katie Teutemacher (Wilson) and husband Jason Teutemacher, grandson Caden Teutemacher, and several nieces & nephews.

Brenda was a beautiful soul, an incredible mother, a fun grandmother, a loving sister, a spirited daughter and caring friend.  Her loving, compassionate spirit has touched the lives of so many.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m-1 p.m. at Amos Family Funeral Home.
