Brett Lee Conley, 62, of Fairway, KS, husband, father, grandpa, and brother passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 18, 2021, surrounded by his family after a year-long battle with cancer. His final days were spent with his family and friends while rooting on all forms of sport on the muted TV as was his tradition.
Brett was born in Wichita, KS and graduated from Wichita South High School prior to attending The University of Kansas where he made a multitude of life-long friends while living at Pearson Hall completing both a Bachelor's in Journalism and MBA in Finance.
After school, Brett moved to Kansas City and enjoyed a career in finance at Ernst & Young, Didde Corp., Yellow Freight, Sprint Nextel and later co-founded his own Financial Advisor company, Freestate Advisors, in 2007.
Brett married his wife Ginger in 1989. Together they bought a house in Fairway and raised their two sons Aidan and Devin. The family enjoyed a house at the Lake of the Ozarks, where Brett passed many summer days perfecting the art of towing tubers, repairing mowers, and lounging on the deck with his wife watching the sun set over the trees.
Brett was a fan of home popped popcorn, cold Pepsi, short sleeved button downs, and a Sunday well spent attaining the "Genius" level on the SpellingBee in the New York Times. He was always willing to listen to his sons complain about life's problems and help those close to him.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Ginger; son Devin his wife Katherine (McArdle); son Aidan; Grand-daughter Caroline; brother Thomas Conley (Susan) of KCMO; sister Debbi Siebert; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Warren Conley and Virginia Lee Brandon Conley.
Brett made a huge impact on our lives and we have many wonderful memories of him. He will be sorely missed.
A celebration of life will be held this Saturday at Trezo Mare between the hours of 1:30 and 4:30pm. Family and friends are welcome.
