Byron “Barney” Crance

d. July 27, 2011

Byron "Barney" Crance, 96, died July 27, 2011, at Olathe Medical Center after an unexpected illness.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Marjorie "Margie" and is survived by his son James Crance (Carole) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughters, Barbara Bates (Steve) of Olathe, Kansas and Deborah Caldwell (Tom) of Lenexa, Kansas. Barney was a grandfather of 10 and a great grandfather of 20.

Barney led a long life filled with interesting jobs, long lasting friendships and a devotion to his family like no other. He was a devout Elks member and attained the status of Exalted Ruler before retiring from the chapter. Marge and Barney would dance the night away at Elks events and even performed in a band with Barney on drums and Marge singing. He was a member of Overland Park Lutheran Church where he ushered and assisted wherever needed. He was a kind, loving compassionate man who was loved by many and will be missed by all.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Delmar Gardens of Overland Park where Barney lived for the last 5 years and the kind and caring staff at Olathe Medical Center who cared for our family during this difficult time. Rest in peace dear, sweet man.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delmar Gardens of Overland Park, 12100 W. 109th Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66210.
