Elsie Casaert, 100, of Overland Park, KS, passed away, Monday, April 24, 2017.
Elsie was born in Lenexa on July 26, 1916 to George and Mary Lust Gast. She worked on the family dairy until her marriage to Philemon Casaert in 1952. They operated a truck farm and greenhouse until their retirement in 1985. They were founding members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Phil, in 2007, her sisters, Maggie, Celina, Sylvia, and Josie and her brothers, Emil, Joe, Ed, Bert, and Corky.
She is survived by her son, James Casaert of Overland Park, KS; three sisters-in-law, Edith Gast, of Lenexa, KS, Bernadine Soetaert, of Danville, IL, and Josephine Casaert, of Overland Park, KS and a brother-in-law, Art Casaert, of Wellsville, KS. She leaves behind many caring and loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Glenda Naldoza and Twila Davis for their loving and compassionate care for both Elsie and Jim.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., Thursday at the church with visitation following until 11 a.m.
The family suggests contributions to the church.
