On April 6th Cara Catherine Rivers passed from this life into the next. She graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School and attended the University of Missouri in Warrensburg.
Cara was known for her generous spirit and bad ass, no nonsense demeanor. She never passed up an opportunity to stand up for the little guy, save an animal (some she dated) or jump out of an airplane. Cara loved a good bonfire and her friends, fiercely. She idolized her brother Nate just enough so that he knew it, and then would remind him of the time he murdered Mom’s plant to keep him humble. She held a special place in the hearts of her stepbrothers Jackson and Gage, and was adored by her cousins, especially Paige, Emma, and Sammy. She was a terrible driver, except when someone else was driving, then she was an expert. She loved camping and the out of doors, and the yearly trips to Lake Wilson were regarded with special fondness. Cara will always be remembered for her laughter, her generosity, and her hair. She will be missed mightily.
Cara loved and was so very loved by her mom, Erin Rivers, her dad and stepmom, Steve and Stacey Rivers, her brother, Nathan Rivers, her stepbrothers, Jackson and Gage Dinino, and her dog, Horus. Her extended family includes grandparents Al and Peg Rivers, Aunt Sandy Rivers and Uncle Tom Rivers (Diane), aunts Lynn Martinez (Joe), Joan Schielke (Robert), Colleen Dennis, Katie Fox, Mary Greene, and uncles Michael Dennis (Joyce), Anthony Dennis (Jody), Daniel Dennis (Kitty) and many cousins and extended family.
Her Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 17th at 2pm at Amos Funeral Home. The service will be live streamed by clicking the link below for those who cannot attend:
