Carnie E. Jones, 80 of Shawnee passed away surrounded by family, from complications of Parkinson's on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Sweet Life of Rosehill.
Carnie was born July 10, 1934 to the late James Carnie and Effie Bernice Jones in Kansas City, Kansas. Carnie graduated from Turner High School in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and served as a Crew Chief before being discharged in 1956. After his service, Carnie went to work for Southwestern Bell as a PBX Installer. He retired in 1988 after 30 years. Carnie was a member of the Ben Hur Masonic Lodge #322. Carnie loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, especially fishing and traveling to his second home in Idaho Springs, CO. He had a great sense of humor and could be counted on to supervise all family projects.
Carnie is preceded in death by his wives, Barbara and Nancy in 2009. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Joni Lea Long and brother, Charles Jones.
Carnie is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Darrel) Roth; son, Randy Jones; son-in-law, Richard Long; 10 grandchildren, Jason (Mary) Arehart; Adam Arehart; Bryan (Jennifer) Roth; Lorelei Jones; Nathan Jones; Ashlee (Thomas) Dukeman; Shane Long; Grant Jones; Morgan (Tyler) Dunning; Danielle Hinton and 9 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Carnie's life will be held at Pierson Park in the spring.
