Carol Sczepanski, 84, of Shawnee, KS passed away on November 6th, 2019. Carol was born on January 1st, 1935 in Midland, MI to Anna Ruth "Tootie" Conklin. Carol was well known for her infectious smile and laugh. She was very dedicated to her profession as a proofreader for Ford Press, later known as Pendell Printing and later on Quebecor before retiring in 2002. Carol had a strong passion for music of all genres except rap and hard rock. She would bob her head from side to side and say "it's got a nice beat to it" and her radio was playing 24/7. She was a very strong willed individual who battled and survived four separate cancer diagnoses throughout her lifetime.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Anna (Conklin) Engwis; two brothers, Kenneth Marvin and Edward Lee Engwis; sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Crevia Engwis; and niece, Katherine "Kitty" Elizabeth Engwis Acker. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Cheryl Anne (Dan) O'Keefe; sister-in-law, Sharon (Kenneth) Engwis; former sister-in-law Sharon (Edward) Engwis; nieces and nephews, Cora Leigh Engwis Belgarde, Christine "Tina" Louise Engwis Olson, David Lee Engwis, Julie Anne Engwis Feldotte, and Bridget Lynn Engwis Slawynk; and grandchildren, Marissa Sue Armstrong and Patrick Bernard O'Keefe.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Clover Care for their loving and compassionate care of Carol. They would also like to thank Phoenix Hospice for their care as well, particularly for Carol's last days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 PM on December 31st, 2019 at The Hollis Renewal Center. The immediate family will have a private ceremony off the Coast of San Diego in Summer 2020 to scatter her ashes at sea.
Memorial donations in Carol's name may be made to The American Cancer Society.
