Carolyn Ann Mahaffy Klamm

d. June 9, 1956

Carolyn Ann Mahaffy Klamm was born November 8th . 1928, in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Rev. J. M Mahaffy and Maude Minnich Mahaffy. Carolyn was the youngest of six siblings. During her childhood she grew up in small town America before graduating at Bowling Green High School in Bowling Green , Missouri. She attended Park College, Parkville, Missouri majoring in Biology. She taught seven years in the Kansas City Kansas Schools before marrying James Klamm June 9th, 1956. She became a homemaker upon the arrival of son Keith and daughter Judy. She used her creative skills in sewing, making crafts, baking, canning, and cooking. No meal seemed complete without a fresh baked treat often accompanied with homemade ice cream.  Breakfast was not breakfast without yummy cinnamon rolls

Carolyn was a long time member of Southminster Presbyterian Church serving as deacon, elder  and Sunday School teacher.  She sang for many years in the church choir and was also active in Southminster Presbyterian Women, serving in many roles,especially the kitchen.

Carolyn also was active in American Association of University Women (AAUW) serving several times as treasurer. She was also a member in PEO Missouri chapter GY. She enjoyed being part of the fellowship and service of these organizations.

Carolyn enjoyed traveling with her family throughout the United States. After Jim's retirement they traveled the world including trips to the Holy Land Australia, Europe and numerous river cruises. Traveling was part of her DNA. With kids in tow, she planned weeks' long trips throughout Missouri, Minnesota, Arizona/California, New York and Washington, D.C. These trips instilled sense of adventure into her children.

She is survived by her husband Jim, Prairie Village, KS, son Keith (Cyndie) of Dallas , TX and daughter Judy of Kansas City MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Elsie, Ruth, Martha, Miriam, Dorcas, and a brother Harlan, and an infant son.

Services will take place at Southminster Presbyterian of Prairie Village on Thursday March 8th.  Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m.  followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or Southminster Presbyterian Church.
