Carolyn Marie Richardson Thompson, 78, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on March 15, 2010, at Research Medical Center.
Carolyn was born on February 23, 1932, in Pontiac, Michigan. She was a loving mother and grandmother, the oldest of six children, a pastor's wife and a kindergarten teacher at Kansas City Christian School for 16 years. She was also a sales associate at The Jones Store and Macy's at Metcalf South for many years.
She was preceded in death 40 years earlier by her husband, Rev. James Wesley Thompson as well as her brother, Robert. Survivors include one son, Daniel Thompson of Mission, Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Keslar of Greensboro, North Carolina and Mrs. Melissa Kunellis of Kansas City, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Ben and David and her sisters Mrs. Libby Parrish and Mrs. Mary Ellen Schloesser.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Brazil Inland Mission.
Visitation and Funeral Service
Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Monday, March 22, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Shawnee. A visitation will be 5-7 pm, Sunday, March 21, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.
